Troubleshooting passkey errors
There may be times when you receive an error when attempting to use your passkey. These errors may include the passkey prompt not appearing or the page failing to log you in after you provide your passkey.
NOTE
If you receive an error when attempting to use your passkey, select the option for "Try another way" to use your password or a secondary 2-step method (like an SMS code or Google prompt).
Mac OS: cannot create passkey on this device
Symptom: you have enabled TouchID on your Mac device and are attempting to create a passkey using the Mac, error “Cannot create passkey on this device”.
Solution One: Potentially you have already saved the passkey in your Apple iCloud keychain. Try signing into your Apple account on the Mac where the passkey is saved.
Solution Two: Remove the existing passkey from the account, and re-create the passkey for your WFU Google Workspace account.
"Google couldn't verify this account belongs to you" Recover Account Message
When signing in to your account and attempting to use a passkey, the system may say that your account can't be verified and needs to be recovered. The solution is to click on the account name on the left hand side during the verification process and then follow the prompts to receive a security code. The video below illustrates the steps:
