Your WFU Number Anywhere

Modified on: Thu, Apr 30, 2026 3:00 PM

Take your WFU phone on the go using the Webex App.

The Webex App brings your Wake Forest University office phone number with you, wherever you work. By launching the Webex App, faculty and staff can place and receive Wake Forest business calls from a computer or mobile device without relying on a physical desk phone.

Your personal phone number remains private, and your existing 758 extension stays exactly the same. Calls made through the Webex App work just as they do from your office phone, whether you are on campus, at home, or on the go. This service is available to Wake Forest faculty and staff with an assigned University telephone number. Wake Forest does not provide phone service to students.

Meet the Webex App, Wake Forest’s mobile and desktop alternative to a desk phone.

The Webex App allows faculty and staff to make and receive Wake Forest phone calls without being tied to a single location. Whether answering calls from another part of campus, working remotely, or stepping out of the office for the afternoon, your Wake Forest extension follows you when you launch the Webex App. Calls placed through the app use your University phone number, not your personal one.

Using the Webex App can also simplify your workspace. Without a physical phone and its cords, offices become easier to arrange and adapt. For those who prefer to keep their desk phone, the Webex App can be used alongside it. There is no requirement to choose one or the other.

How Does It Work?

The Webex App is a software‑based phone that connects directly to Wake Forest’s phone system. When you launch the Webex App, it provides the same functionality as your desk phone. They are one and the same system, simply accessed through a different device.

Important Notes

The Webex App described here is intended for phone calling using your Wake Forest University telephone number. Wake Forest no longer provides Webex Meetings licenses, and other Cisco applications such as Webex Meetings or Webex Messaging that do not support phone calling. You may still join a Webex meeting organized by another organization that licenses Webex, but those meetings are separate from the calling features described here. Webex Go is not supported at this time. Faculty and staff should use the standard Webex App, which connects directly to Wake Forest’s on‑campus phone system.

To use your WFU number anywhere, you must install and launch the Cisco Webex App. This is the only supported application for making and receiving Wake Forest business calls on a computer or mobile device.

Before You Begin:

The Cisco Webex app can be used on both computers and mobile devices to make and receive Wake Forest business calls. Faculty and staff may install the app on one or multiple devices using the same university phone number.

Using Webex App on Windows or macOS

Faculty and staff can take advantage of their WFU phone number anywhere on a Windows or Mac computer to make and receive business calls without a physical desk phone.
