Through an expanded collaboration with Google and Coursera, WFU now offers free access to over 385 professional courses and certificate programs to current students, faculty, and staff through a three month “check out” process.
What This Means for You
Whether you are a student looking to bolster your resume, or a faculty or staff member aiming to enhance your skills, these flexible, self-paced courses allow you to learn on your own terms.
Earn Your Credentials
Upon completion, you will receive recognition to showcase on your LinkedIn profile or resume—tangible proof of your commitment to professional growth and technical mastery.
How to Access the Program
To ensure equitable access to these valuable resources, we are utilizing a "library-style" check-out system that lasts for three months. Not finished after your three months have ended? Just submit another request for your access so you can finish at your own pace.
- Request Access: Submit a Common Request through the Service Desk to request a license.
- Access Period: Once granted, you will have access to the program for a 3-month period.
- Renewal: If you need more time to complete your coursework, you may request access again by completing the same form. Your in-progress work will be saved on your Coursera account and waiting for you when you return.
Getting Started with Your WFU Google Account
Because we are a Google Campus, accessing these resources is seamless:
- Log In: When invited, click the Join button in the invitation message, and simply sign in using Google Single Sign-on (SSO) with your Wake Forest credentials.
- Merging Accounts: If you have previously used your WFU email for a personal Coursera account, you will be prompted to merge your accounts. This ensures your history is preserved and your previously completed courses appear alongside your new work.
- Account Security: During setup, please add a recovery email address. This ensures you retain access to your certificates and accomplishments even after the program ends or if you leave the university.

While Grow with Google offers more than 385 professional courses and certificates fully covered by our partnership, a number of specialized programs on the platform may require an additional fee. These exceptions will be clearly labeled before you enroll, so you'll always know if a specific course falls outside the catalog of free courses for Wake Forest. If you're looking for another free alternative on a certain topic, LinkedIn Learning is also available to you at no cost and offers thousands of courses across a wide range of professional and technical topics.
Return to Grow with Google At Your Leisure
During your three month check-out period, return to Grow with Google by bookmarking the link or by clicking the App Launcher in your Google Workspace, where you'll find Coursera listed near the bottom of the menu of services.
