Compromised Account Or Locked Out of your WFU Account

Modified on: Thu, Jul 3, 2025 1:02 PM

If you suspect your WFU account has been compromised

Change your password immediately on account.wfu.edu.  If your password has been changed, you can use the "reset forgotten password" feature.

Contact us and report the incident.  We will investigate and provide further recommendations if appropriate.  You can also email our security team directly at [email protected].

If we suspect your account has been compromised

We will immediately disable the account to prevent further potential damage.  Contact us and we will work with you to get your access restored.

Do not share your WFU credentials (even with trusted individuals)

If WFU detects abnormal logins, you may lose access to your school or work access at inopportune times. Students can setup parents or trusted parties with their own access to specific information.

2-Step Verification

Do not approve a 2-Step Verification Google Prompt that you did not initiate or provide a 2-Step Verification code to anyone else.  If you receive these notifications and you did not initiate, change your password immediately and contact us and report the incident. You can also email our security team directly at [email protected].
