Google Vids, Google's new, experimental AI-powered custom video wizard

Modified on: Thu, Mar 13, 2025 2:44 PM

Google Vids (vids.google.com) is an AI-powered video-creation app available through your WFU Google Workspace account. Google Vids does not yet include data protection, so do not share any sensitive or internal-only information in your Vids files. Vids is still pretty experimental but has many robust features and can help get a project off the ground quickly with the help of its built-in AI features.

Coolest feature so far: automated AI-generated narration. With one click, turn the AI-generated or custom transcript into a voiceover with multiple voice styles. ✨

With Vids, you can create custom videos right in your web browser—no special software or video editing skills required. The videos you create can be up to 10 minutes long.

Key features in Google Vids

Vids' built-in recording studio makes it easier to record a video. Vids has its own content library, with millions of royalty-free stock media choices, as well as direct integrations with Google Drive and Google Photos. You can also use Gemini in Vids to create custom images, and easily add features that make your videos more dynamic, such as animations, transitions, or photo effects that give still images movement to add visual interest. Additional key features include:

  • Suggested scripts per scene, provided by Gemini

  • A variety of professional-sounding preset AI voiceovers you can easily insert

  • Rolling or read-along teleprompter
