Google AI Pro for Education

Google has consolidated its premium AI offerings. What was previously referred to as "Gemini Premium" is now known as "Google AI Pro." For higher education institutions using Google Workspace, this paid add-on is specifically called "Google AI Pro for Education." This subscription provides advanced AI capabilities for your WFU Google Workspace account, which integrate directly with core Workspace tools.

Note: This is a paid feature. To add the Advanced license, departments may purchase a subscription for their team member using our "additional approval" form and submitting their budget code: go.wfu.edu/AddApproval

Below are some quick overviews of how to use Gemini within some of our most used Workspace apps. 

Write with Gemini in Google Docs

Write something new

Click in a document where you want to write something new.

  1. Click where you want to insert new text.
  2. Click to open Help me write.
  3. Enter a prompt describing what you want Gemini to write.
  4. Click Create to preview and optionally insert the suggested text.

Rewrite or ask about something

Select what you want to rewrite or ask about.

  1. Select the text you want to rewrite or ask Gemini about.
  2.  Click to open Help me write.
  3. Select an option such as Summarize or Shorten.
  4. Or type a prompt asking Gemini to write something based on the selection.

Draft email with Gemini

Click in a Gmail compose window where you want to write something new. Or select what you want to rewrite.

  1. In a Compose window click to open Help me write.
  2. Enter your prompt and click Create.
  3. Click Recreate to generate a new suggestion.
  4. Click Refine to select an option for rewriting the suggested text, or to change your prompt.
  5. Click Insert to add the suggestion to your email.

Organize with Gemini in Google Sheets

Open a blank sheet. Then ask Gemini for Google Workspace to organize a table for you, based on your prompt.

  1. Click Insertand thenHelp me organize to open the Gemini sidebar (if it's not already open)
  2. Enter a prompt describing the table you want Gemini to create.
  3. Click Create to preview and optionally add the suggested table to your spreadsheet.

Create images with Gemini in Google Slides

Ask Gemini for Google Workspace to create an image to insert on your current slide. 

  1. Click Create image to open the Gemini sidebar. 
  2. Enter a prompt describing the image you want.
  3. Select a style, such as Photography or Watercolor.
  4. Click Create to generate suggested images.
  5. Click an image to add it to your slide.
