Why Should I Install Updates?

Software updates perform a number of important tasks. They are available for both our operating system and individual software programs. Regularly checking for and performing these updates will deliver a multitude of revisions to your computer, tablet, or mobile device, such as adding new features, removing outdated features, updating drivers, delivering bug fixes, and most importantly, fixing security vulnerabilities. Even though these software updates seem like a hassle, think of it as a preventative measure for your Internet safety.

How Do I Check for Updates?

Watch our short instructional video or follow the steps below.

Apple Users

Click your Apple menu, then click About This Mac. Here you’ll see the version of your operating system.

Click the Software Update button to see if any updates are available. If there are available updates, you'll see an Update Now button. Click the Update Now button and proceed as directed.

Windows Users

Whether you are running Windows 10 or 11, click the Start menu, type Windows Update and press Enter. You will be taken to the Windows Update settings. Click the Check for updates button on the top right.

If there are updates to be installed, proceed as directed.

Keep in mind that updates can take several minutes and often require a restart.
