The instructions and information below are provided as a service to the University community. While the Service Desk provides support for ThinkPads issued by Information Systems, we hope that this information is useful to those who have personal laptops and mobile devices.
Important notes about these instructions:
- they are NOT for ThinkPads issued by Information Systems.
Windows 8, 7 and Vista
These instructions are for computers using the built-in Windows wireless software. Download the wireless profile:
Select the connection type below that you use on your ThinkPad. If you need help deciding which connection to use, contact the Service Desk.
Student connection Admin connection
- Choose Save. Save the file to your desktop.
- Minimize all windows and double click the file.
- At the next window, click Unzip.
- After it unzips, click OK, then Close.
- Click Start and type: c:\wireless Press Enter.
- Double click Add WFUconnection profile.bat
Click the Windows wireless icon on the taskbar to view available networks. You should see a new profile (WFUconnection
) Choose the profile, and click Connect. You will be prompted to enter your Wake Forest University username and password during the connection process.

Some Macs connect automatically, while some require additional setup. Please see Configuring Macs for WFU wireless
for more information. We also recommend prioritizing wireless connections
to ensure that the correct connection is chosen each time.
Linux Computers and Mobile Devices
Some of these devices may require setup or configuration. Wake Forest University wireless settings are available here
iPhones: tap Settings > WiFi. You should see a list of available networks. Select the appropriate network from the list, and enter your username and password when prompted.
