Please be suspicious of any pop-ups that alert you to virus or malware infection of the ThinkPad unless they come from Symantec Anti-Virus or Symantec Endpoint Protection. Be cautious of any programs offering to remove viruses or spyware for a fee, as these are often viruses/malware themselves. Please remember the Service Desk offers virus and malware cleanup free of charge as a service of the ThinkPad program. If you have questions, please visit http://help.wfu.edu/security or call 336-758-HELP (4357).
On January 4, 2010, all incoming e-mail for university students, excluding students with @mba.wfu.edu e-mail addresses, will be directed to WFU Google Mail. Learn more about accessing WFU Google Mail and its benefits here.
Microsoft released Windows 7. At this time, we strongly urge you not to upgrade to Windows 7. If you upgrade your Wake Forest computer to Windows 7, you will no longer be able to access network resources such as printing, file shares, some library resources and Wake Forest specific computing applications.
Beginning Wednesday, September 16, the Information Systems Service Desk will close at noon on Wednesdays. The Service Desk will be available to assist you between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon on Wednesdays, as well as during the business hours posted here.

The Banner Learning Special Interest Group (SIG) consists of a joint effort sponsored by the campus Financial and Accounting Services department, Information Systems department, and the Professional Development Center.
With little formal Banner training in place, in November 2008 the core Banner SIG team began initial work to organize a cross representative training team to organize and implement campus Banner training. In December 2008, this team was organized and defined. The team consists of Banner training representatives pinpointed from the Special Interest Group selections of the Partners Advisory Group (led by Paul Heinrichs as a partner of the Information Systems Partnership Council). Banner Learning SIG members include representatives from many departments on campus:
Andrea Ellis, Human Resources |
Bonnie Kiger, Admissions |
David Clark, Residence Life and Housing |
Debbie Deheck, Graduate School |
Donnette Leonard, Babcock |
Jeannette Rork, Registrar |
Jennifer Rogers, Finance (co-chair) |
JoAnn Trethaway, Divinity School |
Kate Hicks, Information Systems (co-chair) |
Laurie O’Brien, Human Resources |
LeAnn Steele, Law School |
Nathan Cramer, Advancement Sarah Wojcik, Information Systems |
Shelia Lockhart, Religion |
Terri LeGrand, Financial Aid |
The team has organized a basic navigational training effort which will address the generic needs of all Banner users. To learn more about the basic opportunities, visit pdc.wfu.edu. Following the general information, the team hopes to organize formalized training efforts including departmental specific Banner information. An overarching goal of the group includes creating a central repository for Banner information on campus. The team will also work to provide Banner 8 training information as the Banner 8 upgrade occurs.
Do you have questions, requests, or ideas regarding training? Contact your departmental Banner SIG representative as listed above or contact co-chair Jennifer Rogers, rogersjh@wfu.edu .
Banner Learning Materials can be located here.
